CONFERENCE SPEAKER

Kenneth Carter, PhD is a Professor of Psychology at Oxford College of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he is actively involved in research and teaching. Dr. Carter has been a psychotherapist and researcher for more than 20 years. His work has garnered awards from the National Institutes of Health, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, and the University of Michigan.

Pharmacology and Ethics

Dr. Carter will: (1) recall the common questions frequently encountered by non-prescribing mental health care professionals regarding medications (2) tell why non-prescribing mental health care professionals should be knowledgeable about basic psychopharmacology and (3) list actions assumed to be beyond the scope of practice and not appropriate from non-prescribing therapists.

Theories of Supervision

Dr. Carter will: (1) Describe the major models of clinical supervision (2) identify the responsibilities and roles of supervisor and supervisee (3) explain potential legal and ethical challenges in supervision and (4) explain how to identify and resolve multiple relationships that may arise in supervision.
